A Realm of Folklore and Nature in Gorj
Located in Turceni, Gorj County, “Tărâmul Cerbilor” (The Land of the Deer) is a large-scale tourism and cultural development spanning 800 hectares. The site is defined by its diverse forest landscape and a significant resident population of approximately 1,000 deer, does, and mouflons. The project’s primary objective is to develop this vast natural area into a structured recreational complex that balances wildlife conservation with high-quality visitor infrastructure.
Cultural Identity and Thematic Concept
The development is built around a thematic framework rooted in Romanian folklore and mythology. By integrating elements of traditional storytelling into the landscape, the project moves beyond a standard resort model to offer a “cultural edutainment” experience. This approach aims to make local heritage and traditional values accessible to a modern audience through interactive trails, workshops, and immersive design, catering to both domestic visitors and international tourists seeking authentic cultural insights.
Infrastructure and Functional Versatility
The masterplan includes a wide range of facilities designed to accommodate diverse guest requirements and ensure year-round operations. Planned infrastructure includes various lodging tiers—from full-service hotels to cabin resorts—alongside a craft market, a wedding barn, a winery, and a spa. These facilities are complemented by professional amenities such as conference halls and music stages, allowing the site to host a variety of events, from corporate retreats and school excursions to large-scale cultural festivals.
Strategic Connectivity and Regional Impact
Strategically positioned 54 km from Craiova Airport and benefiting from the development of the Craiova–Pitești and Craiova-Târgu Jiu express roads, “Tărâmul Cerbilor” is poised to become a major regional hub. The project represents a significant investment in quality tourism, leveraging its proximity to transport corridors to attract a broad demographic. By blending modern hospitality standards with the region’s natural and cultural assets, the development seeks to establish Gorj County as a key destination on the European tourism map.
