Modernizing Healthcare Infrastructure
The Bacău Hospital project represents a major architectural intervention aimed at completing and integrating a significant building within the medical campus of the Bacău County Emergency Hospital. The proposal focuses on revitalizing an unfinished L-shaped structure, originally built between 2007 and 2012, organized around a central inner courtyard and developed over a basement, ground floor, and five upper floors (S+P+5E).
By transforming this partially executed 25,882-square-meter structure into a contemporary healthcare facility, the project contributes to strengthening the medical infrastructure of the region while creating a safe, efficient, and patient-oriented environment.
The architectural approach upgrades and completes the existing structure to meet current energy performance standards, while introducing a renewed façade identity and improved spatial organization. The intervention focuses on completing the building envelope, modernizing the architectural expression, and adapting the interior spaces to contemporary healthcare requirements.
Functionally, the hospital is designed to accommodate 328 continuous hospitalization beds, 18 day-hospitalization beds, and 9 dialysis stations, distributed across specialized departments including Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, and an Intensive Care Unit. The layout prioritizes clear medical circulation and an efficient organization of clinical spaces, supporting both medical staff workflows and patient comfort.
Through the completion of this pavilion, the project becomes an important extension of the Bacău County Emergency Hospital, contributing to the delivery of modern medical services for the community.
