Our team at UNITH2B SRL is proud to present the rehabilitation of the “Blocul Fetelor” building, located on Alexandru Ioan Cuza Boulevard in Reșița. Originally serving as a dormitory for young female students, the building has been completely transformed into a dynamic space for social, community, and cultural activities. Our design focused on converting the former residential studios into flexible office spaces, multifunctional rooms, and workshop areas dedicated to local NGOs and community groups. We are thrilled to share that the construction works are now fully completed, and the building is ready to serve its new community role.
Architecturally, we aimed to refresh the building’s image while respecting its original character. On the exterior, we improved energy efficiency with modern triple-glazed windows and basalt wool insulation, while preserving traditional facade accents like the prominent cornice and window rhythms through varied decorative plaster textures. Inside, we opened up the rigid, original “honeycomb” layout by creating new openings through the structural walls, resulting in a more fluid and adaptable space. To highlight the building’s authentic structural beauty, we left the original brickwork exposed in many areas, providing a versatile backdrop for the new interior functions, which even includes a newly integrated amphitheater in the attic.
