Completed in 2025, this transformative urban renewal project in the Mociur district of Reșița focused on social integration and the revitalization of the local housing stock. The intervention centered on the comprehensive rehabilitation of the “Cămin nr. 2” social housing block, alongside the strategic demolition of the dilapidated “Cămin nr. 1” structure to open up the urban fabric. Our architectural approach involved a total internal reconfiguration, converting 90 rudimentary units into 50 modern, fully-equipped apartments featuring dedicated kitchens, bathrooms, and private balconies. The updated housing mix now offers 12 studios, 28 two-room apartments, and 10 three-room units, providing diverse and dignified living standards for the community.
Beyond the building’s envelope, the project significantly improved the public realm by reclaiming the footprint of the demolished structure for community use. We designed and implemented a 3,559-square-meter landscape plan that integrated new green spaces, children’s play areas, and zones for social relaxation. Structural integrity was a priority, involving extensive basement sanitization and foundation reinforcement to elevate the building’s seismic resilience. By blending essential technical modernization with high-quality landscape architecture, the project has successfully fostered a more cohesive and revitalized urban environment for the residents of Reșița.
